Who was John Wooden? You probably already know that he was the head basketball coach at Indiana State University, and I think elsewhere, too. He was very successful as a coach and an adviser. I love John Wooden's "Pyramid of Success". I wish I knew how to cut and paste his pyramid onto our blog, maybe one of you can do it.

In a period of 14 years, John Wooden worked on his famous pyramid. He said, "The first two blocks of the pyramid are the two cornerstones because to be strong, you have to have a strong foundation. The cornerstones of success to me, in anything, are hard work and enjoy what you're doing. So, one cornerstone is industriousness and the other is enthusiasm. Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming."

It reminds me of the boy scout motto, but more for adults in the world of work and leadership.

Enjoy!

  1. Oops. I guess you can't "enjoy" until you see it! Just google "John Wooden's Pyramid of Success", or hopefully one of you can "glue" it onto our blog so everyone can see it.
